my eco footprint

did you know that you can see how many earths it would take to sustain the current population of the earth if they all lived exactly like you? you can!! you take this little quiz on http://www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/page/calculators . its pretty awesome. i learned that if everyone on the earth lived like me, i would have to have 4.1 EARTH's to eventually sustain them all. and then there are little things that you can pledge to do, to reduce that number and it is pretty darn cool!! man, its soo legiate. :) i might take a lot of earth to sustain, but its better than some people... not mentioning any names

out with the unused, but not in with the new

in last weeks sunday paper there was an article in there about a family that had given up half of everything they had. they downsized from a three story house to a house about the same size as mine, but a little smaller. they gave away half of their clothes and even decided to give up half of all of their extracurricular activities. and over a year, just through the money they saved on their mortgage payment, they were able to pay for two epicenters in africa and were able to actually go out and see the families and communities that they gave a life back to.

my dad decided it was probably a good thing to do to our house and we decided to go through our closets and donate the clothes that we havent worn in a while, or were to small. me and my sister are now down to the fifteen shirts that we wear regularly and the clothes that are necessary for the upcoming season. my little sister ended up giving like three quarters of the clothes in our closet just because they didnt fit her or she didnt like them, or she was never going to fit her. but know i want to give them to those in haiti. but i dont know of anyone that is taking clothes for them. i guess that something i'll be doing to fill this otherwise empty, day. :)

happy, happy, happy days!

no school tomorrow!! woo hoo! im soo excited! originally, the chance of a good amount of snow wasnt very good. but that was this morning. i got a call from the the district a little while ago, and it gave me the most amazing news ever!! no school! which means another day to do that cursed geometry homework... ugh. but it also lets me SLEEP IN!! yes...

and news on katherine. all is good. turns out something next to her pelvis had started to leak excess fluids into her body, thus upsetting her stomach and making it very painful. she spent about eight hours in the ER yesterday afternoon, but all is well now. the doctors gave her a couple of shots and prescribed her tylenol. lol (turns out her quack of a doctor was down right WRONG) heres a link to her blog. she blogged about it too! divergirly.blogspot.com. hope it works!

but thank goodness that she is all better! and im looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. woo hoo!

school

this semester is going to be interesting. ive already turned two projects in (thankfully in different classes), but i'm working on a third we'll have to turn in. biology is really hard. i dont enjoy the dense, college level reading that i have to do, almost nightly for it. really super annoying. geometry is so hard, yet. proofs arent as bad as some people built them up to be. but chapter three is where its starting to get hard... :( not cool. but i guess thats life. computer apps is nice. the class has been working on microtype, which ive already done before. so ive been able to get some of my geometry done before i get home. which means more time for biology... eek!

but now im really scared. one of my friends is in the hospital because of a serious stomach pain. tuesday she spent throwing up everything she ate and not feeling delightful at all. this morning i got a call telling me that she was going to the emergency room sometime today. not the best time to tell someone. so ive been breaking school rules all day and texting between classes to get updates on her situation. her best guy friend and she have been helpful in that. but around two thirty, she shot me a text saying that she is in the emergency room. at the time, her stomach was all constricted and it was painful to even breathe apparently. the doctors ran some tests after she got there, and we are now waiting for results. (such a nail-biting, nerve-racking experience.) the best thing i can do now is hope and pray all goes well

guitar

ok so my expectations in my husband just got a little longer, because of one of these:

and this song:
by this guy:

yep!
i went to one of my friend's birthday party on friday night. one of the guests gave her the gift of a his playing skills. he played several songs including "free falling", "i lie by you", and "bubbly toes". uuh, soo amazing. hes really good and has good rhythm and a good voice and hes all around really good. with the song "i lie by you", we forced another guest to go and sing it with him, because she is one of the best singers in the bearden high school chorus. :) and o my goodness. that duet was soo gorgeous. the party was buckets of fun and i learned alot about random people. :) (always nice at a party) lol

a new year

this year is going to be a lot of fun. we are half way through our house project and im starting the hardest year of my entire school career: honors biology, honors geometry, computer applications, and band. ok, so maybe not so much computer apps and band, but geometry and biology are going to be HARD once we get pasted the review stuff and start on the legitate work. ive already got my first project in sight and im kind of nervous about it. and i have no idea what it is. but its going to be interesting at least.

my resolutions for this years consist of collecting 200 dollars and getting a savings account, getting a drivers permit, and beating my PRs for freestyle and backstroke and getting those times a whole lot faster. and im going to try to get at least a double on a rifle and saber. assuming that i get a rifle and saber before the end of the year... :)
