the best movie since star wars

unless you have been living underneath a rock or without cable, you know that Avatar, nominated the best movie since Star Wars, was released on thursday. that night my parents went to the store for some camping stuff, and returned with the movie as well. and what do you do when you get a new movie and you have a flat screen and surround sound along with a Blu-Ray player and a Blu-Ray copy of the movie? lu duh, you watch it ASAP! so last night i watched the famed movie for the first time. and i have to give that movie a 4.5 out of 5. the reason it isnt a 5 is because the main character is an ex-Marine and a stereotypical one at that, so he has a dirty mouth. other than that, it was amazing!! really cool computer generation and really cool sound effects. my twin sister is now obsessed with it and insisted upon watching every spare moment she had today, but i think we have finally snapped her out of it, the author says hopefully. lol but the movie was really good, but i hate the way that the colonel and the project director have no respect for the Na'vi people. makes me so angry... but i guess that is the object of their characters: to act conceded and rude.

the house

i have exsalia bushes outside my house and they are in full bloom. sooo gorgeous. unfortunately they will shrivel very quickly due to the humidity of the air, but i got some really amazing pictures of the house and the flowers before they got all shriveled. yeah!

our pretty dogwood out front

band news

i am in the concert band this season. the concert band went to a festival on the 9th and we had to ride a bus to get there- naturally. i sat with a couple of my friends and the only problem that we had was boredom. so we decided to play truth or dare. at first i was a chicken and said truth more times than i did dare, but then i got over that fear and from the game became more of a dare or dare game, not truth or dare. we were limited to the four walls of the bus, so we got creative. the bus driver nor the chaperones on our bus were paying attention so we got out onto the row and put our feet on someone, i ended up sitting in the seat wrong side up for five dares, a couple of the dudes got slaps in between the shoulder blades and then we got REALLY bored, so we started getting into the kisses on the cheek and the licking of various body parts: feet, toes, belly buttons and even a face or two. i was dared to kiss one of my friends on the lips and as we went to kiss, i got really close and then he decided to stick his tongue out. thank goodness i didnt kiss it. AWKWARD things would have happened then that im glad didnt. lol JK!!

our next concert is next week and needless to say our director is nervous about our preparedness to play. i think we will do just fine if the brass can pull it together, but thats a long shot.

spring break

this past week has been amazing. i got to sleep in until 8:30 am (and yes i know that isnt late, but we were pet sitting a dog that had to be taken out at 8:30, so naturally i had to be there to do it.)

monday and tuesday i went with my family and some friends up to wilderness in the smokies and spent the night. i had a lot of fun, even though i dont do roller coasters. one of the newer slides has a ginormous funnel and u drop about a foot into the thing. it is the scariest thing in the entire world when you can't see the drop coming and you actually can see it. i actually prefer to not see both and going down it sideways. it is funnier that way :) the green slide is my favorite though. it is really fast and awesome even though it doesnt have a giant funnel or scary drops or flips in it. one time i went with some parents and a really light nine year old, so we went really fast and really swirly inside the slide. one word describes that ride: awesome! the wave pool was cool too. about every twenty or thirty minutes, the lifeguards press a button that starts a huge wave of water. it is so much fun. i didnt go on the artificial wave that they had there partially because i didn't feel the need to.

thursday night i hung out with katherine at anchor park and then we went to her house and watched she's the man. i am officially in love with that movie. amazing!!!! love amanda bynes as a dude. sooo funny.

friday me and my sister went to a friends house and played a round of pool, watch a few minutes of brian reagon, and played just dance on the wii. we had a bucket load of laughs and had fun being together.

saturday and sunday were general conference and easter weekend so we didnt really have a lot to do expect for stay at home. yes... time to be lazy!

monday was torture because we had to prep to go back to school, eew. not fun, but still enjoyable b/c i didnt do anything

midterm

so as the school nears midterms, that means that classes are in a mad rush to get half way through the curriculm. ugh. not a good thing. the really bad thing is that all of my midterms, is that all of them are cumulative. which means that all of them are over everything we've supposedly learned so far in the semester. in biology im screwed. computer apps isnt going to be so bad. geometry, well im just hoping that im not going to fail. i can do all of the stuff, its just stupid mistakes.

in biology, i pretty much have to go back and relearn everything we've done. pretty much EVERYTHING. its not good. luckily i have two more nights to study for that one. if i didnt, im pretty sure that i would die.

missing childhood

sometimes i truly miss childhood. the simplicity of it all. not knowing all the gross and disgusting and truly sad things about the world, and life for that matter. not having homework every waking moment of your life. not having to worry about what is going to become of yourself if you fail your next quiz or test.
some days i really miss those days, for selfish reasons and for otherwise a yearning for my life back then. (does that sound wrong, or weird to you?) i miss my family and friends from utah, and those that have moved while ive lived here. sometimes i yearn for the company of those people ive grown away from. i guess thats why the Lord allowed change: so we can learn new and different lessons from every oppurtunity in my life and so we can meet new people. high school has really opened my eyes to that. that, just because life has changed a lot since you were born into this world, or even since you walked into school the other morning, we have to learn from every waking moment of your lives. we all have things that we can apply to our lives from our daily experiences.

this is one of the things ive missed: swinging on the swing, and NOT getting sick.

do you remember when you were little and you would pump on the swing? and if you were pumping at the same time as your partner, you joked that you were in love? i just had that flash back and thought i would bring it up. its been a long time since i have found a swing that i can actually sit on and not get sick on, or have my feet not drag along on the ground. but being this old and my height, i guess that just ruins everything. haha not really though. i enjoy being outside with my siblings, but not long enough to actually be bored enough to swing on our swings we have in the backyard. o well :)

creepers

creepers in the neighborhood...

how do you find them?

this crazy thing google and the right keywords.

and that is exactly what i did today during third block. my teacher talked to us about the stuff we put on the internet and how we need to be safe about that. then we watched a couple of videos about real life kids (girls, ironically, for the most part) who were not safe about the information they put on the internet and they were found by guys who were supposed friends. the scary thing is that both of them ended up in jail, but both will end up out of there before they die. you can finish that mind track...

so we ended the end of the day with searching ourselves and seeing how much personal information we can find out from looking through the google entries. scary stuff if you look through it. then we looked for all the registered sex offenders in a ten mile radius of our houses. i found that there are about ten in a ten mile range of my house... CREEPY!!! i looked up my parents (because i knew that my name wasnt going to show up in an online phonebook) and i was able to find the age range of my parents and the exact location of my home and DIRECTIONS to get to my house... and a detailed list of all my neighbors and all the adults living in the household. thank goodness they arent allowed to put a minors name on that list!! 0:)

i will be making sure my house is completely locked up next time i am babysitting.. that is how creeped out i am about this whole situation

youtube, hey there deliliah, and comedy

everybody knows that boredom brings on some pretty crazy things. this is one of the things that my boredom plus youtube brought to pass: divine comedy. its a mormon group of actors that take a bunch of topics that do and do not relate to being a mormon and our history. it is soo funny. you'll have to look them up. the funniest one ive seen is the one labeled "oregon trail".

ok, then there is "hey there dellilah". remixed. to say "i'm in the mtc". its quite funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xi4OsIdmn8 . (if the url doesnt work, type it in.

it is sooo great. all of these you have to listen to what they are saying, it makes it that much more funny :)

"snow"

ok, so the extremely irriating thing of all: we got out of school last wednesday for no reason at all... ugh. yes, it was snowing earlier and there were patches of black ice in some places, but not enought o send us home early! good time in class that we could have spent other ways. but at least we had first and second block, the full block. those are the two classes that are extremely fast paced and are really hard to catch up in when we get out of school for no apparent reason... ugh.... not good :(
